European Union and Religious Groups (Minority Groups)

The religious groups have constitutional recognition since 1960. In 1995 Cyprus Republic sign the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities with a main purpose the protection of people that belong to the religious groups of Maronites, Armenians, and Latins.

Recommendations and suggestions from the Advisory Committee and the Committee of Ministries the Ministry of Interior have a role to implement the Framework Convention with an open dialogue with the religious groups. The Law Commissioner of Cyprus is responsible for the preparation and deposition of the final report to the Council of Europe.
