Dear Friends,

Further to my previous letters about the Latin Community’s news, I am pleased to inform you of the following:

PARLIAMENTARY WORK:

• On the 15^th October, I had a meeting with the Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs concerning our Community.
• On the 29^th October I met the Director of the Library of the University of Cyprus and one of her assistants. The University will prepare the guide line for the signature of the Memo of Cooperation between the above University and the Latin Community Representative to create the Archive of our Community.
• I expect to have a meeting soon with the chief of negotiator of the Greek-Cypriot Community, Mr Andreas Mavroyiannis, concerning the negotiations for the Cyprus problem.
• I have already informed you about the permanent exhibition place of our Community. I except soon to have a meeting with the Minister of Interior to finalise this matter.
• On the 2^nd of November, the Latins visited the cemeteries , as well the old cemetery in the Buffer Zone escorted by the U.N.O

COMMUNITY NEWS:

• With regret I must inform you of the passing away of Father Wilhelm Fornal. The funeral took place on 21^st October. I extend the Community’s condolences to the Franciscan Order.
• On Thursday 17^th December, the Progressive Society of Larnaca will offer its annual Christmas concert at 8:00 pm at the Latin Catholic Church
• Benevolent Bazaars and concerts will be held by the following organizations:
  • Sunday 6^th December 9:30 – 13:00 hrs in the Garden of St. Catherine church in Limassol by St. Catherine society.
  • In the afternoon of Saturday 12^th December and Sunday 13^th December by St. Anthony’s society in Nicosia next to Holly Cross Church.
  • On Sunday 6^th December, morning at the Monastery of St. Joseph in Nicosia.
  • On Sunday 13^th December, morning at the Monastery of St. Joseph in Larnaca.
• Regarding Paphos:
  • Gala dinner at Aqua Mare Hotel, at 08:00 pm, on Friday 27^th November
  • Xmas lunch at Parish Hall, 12:30 hrs, on Sunday 13^th December.
• CARITAS Limassol will offer a concert on Thursday 10^th December at 08:00 pm at Latin Catholic Church of Limassol. CARITAS Limassol also offers packages of food to poor people every Tuesday at its offices at Zinonos str no.10.
• St Catherine society in Limassol also offers clothes and food packages to needly person.
• The Centre for Preventing Paediatrics (7777-7242) will present G.Puccini’s opera “Suor Angelica” on the 7^th, 8^th and 9^th December at the Latin Catholic church in Limassol, and on 11^th and 12^th December at Holly Cross Church in Nicosia, both at 08:30 pm. Tickets cost Euro 25.00 at Εasy Stores.
