Dear Friends,

 

I am pleased to update you regarding our activities and projects as well as to share with you some Community News:

 

 

1. Parliamentary Work / Actions of the Representative:

  • Recently I separately met with the German and Greek Ambassador in my office to inform them regarding our Community.
  • The Government has granted our Community a permanent Exhibition Centre following our continuous efforts. We will revert with further details.
  • We shall soon be establishing the Association of Latin Women to allow us to have a more active role in social affairs.
  • We had a meeting with the Rector of the University of Cyprus concerning the support of the University for the creation of a digital Archive of the Latin Community. We then had a meeting with the Director of the University’s Library to discuss the next steps.

 

2. Community News:

  • On June 12th St. Anthony’s Benevolent Fund held its own bazaar and lottery and collected Euro 3600 for people in need.
  • In Limassol, St. Catherine’s Benevolent Fund continues to offer refreshments after Sunday morning Masses in order to raise money and Caritas continues its fundraising all for assisting people in need.
  • On June 23rd our Hospice at Paphos had received a letter from the Ministry of Health authorizing its commencement to offer care to terminally ill people.

 

Announcement:

 

I have heard rumours that I am supporting a certain member of the Latin Community for his candidacy at the next Parliamentary Elections. I would like to clarify that I have NEVER promised to support him in the next elections.
